Council has secured $183,231 to progress a precinct running from the
University of Newcastle building to Drifters Wharf. Inside it the council sets its own sound
and trading-hours rules, overriding standard consent and licence conditions. More than 800
people gave feedback and 89 per cent backed a trial; the thing they worried most about is the
